Counting without skipping objects

Counting means giving each object one number and understanding that the last number tells us how many there are altogether. A child may recite numbers confidently and still need practice matching them to objects.

Looking closely at printed letters

Looking at a letter, naming it and writing it are different tasks. These sheets explore printed capital letters and matching lower-case forms. They do not teach a particular handwriting scheme.

Choose a worksheet for the skill being practised

Start with what the child can already do. A child exploring quantities might compare two groups of animals, while a confident counter could try picture addition or a missing number. Age labels are guides rather than a requirement to complete every worksheet in a group. The activity pages include ways to simplify or extend the task.

Look at the preview before printing and decide how the child will respond: pointing, circling, drawing, writing or moving cut-out cards. A short conversation about the answer can reveal more than a completed page. All downloads are available without an account, so you can select one activity for the moment rather than prepare a whole pack.
